I discovered this once thriving but now abandoned, iconic food, tow and gas stop located in the desert of Baker, Ca. near the I 15, south of Las Vegas, NV. There were several onlookers taking pictures of the dilapidated structures from a distance, but none brave enough to enter. Maybe they were content with their fancy zoom lenses or maybe intimidated by the barbed-wire that surrounded the Lo Gas Eat. I was intrigued and wanted to shoot different angles.

Being the adventurous person that I am and toting only an iPhone, I found an open area of barbed-wire fence that reminded me of a jail-house scene from, The Walking Dead series. I would have to get on all fours to sneak in. I ignored did not see the private property signs. Dare I enter and face a herd of Walkers?
In my research I learned possum soup was once served from the RV. The service, however, was poor based on the reviews. I wonder, was it really possum meat?
Right on queue as if we were being watched the entire time or a Walker somehow bit through a random door, I was confronted by a man driving a pick-up truck. The one eye I saw was blood-shot red and appeared to be dangling in its socket. I could only stare at him. He told me I needed to leave the property immediately. I was pretty sure he held a double-barrel shot-gun in his lap or was considering me his next meal to be Lo-Gas Eaten. I didn’t stick around to determine which one.
